Avec le premier numéro du Bulletin de correspondance hellénique en 1877, l’École française d’Athènes s’est affirmée comme une référence dans l’étude de la Grèce et du monde grec, de l’Antiquité à aujourd’hui. Ses Éditions, riches de près de 1 000 titres, explorent des disciplines variées : archéologie, histoire, épigraphie, géographie, sociologie et bien d’autres. Aujourd’hui, leur horizon dépasse la Grèce, englobant les Balkans, la Méditerranée orientale et jusqu’à l’Afghanistan.
Chaque année, une vingtaine de nouveaux ouvrages, trois revues et trois autres en coédition enrichissent ce catalogue. Initialement conçues pour les chercheurs, ces publications, disponibles en format imprimé et numérique, séduisent depuis une décennie un public plus large, passionné par l’histoire du monde méditerranéen.
Les Éditions de l’École française d’Athènes s’illustrent par leur capacité à répondre aux défis contemporains de la recherche. À travers des partenariats avec des institutions prestigieuses et des chercheurs de premier plan, elles contribuent activement à la diffusion des savoirs, tout en explorant de nouveaux formats éditoriaux et en s’adaptant aux besoins d’un lectorat diversifié.
Les Éditions de l’École française d’Athènes jouent ainsi un rôle central dans la valorisation des savoirs et des recherches sur la Grèce, les Balkans et la Méditerranée orientale.

With the publication of the first issue of the Bulletin de correspondance hellénique in 1877, the École française d’Athènes (EFA) asserted itself as a bellwether for the study of Greece and the Greek world, from ancient times to the present day. Now running to a catalogue of almost 1000 titles, its publications span disciplines such as archaeology, history, epigraphy, geography and sociology. Today, their scope
extends beyond Greece to encompass the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean and even Afghanistan.
Each year, its catalogue is enhanced by around twenty new books, three journals and three co-published titles. Although initially intended for a scholarly audience, over the past decade these publications (available in print and digital formats) have attracted a broader readership with a keen interest in the history of the Mediterranean world.
EFA publications stand out for their capacity to respond to contemporary research challenges. By working closely with prestigious institutions and internationally acknowledged scholars, the Éditions contribute actively to the dissemination of knowledge while embracing new editorial formats to meet the expectations of an increasingly diverse readership.
The Éditions of the École française d’Athènes thus play a leading part in enhancing knowledge of and research into Greece, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
